About Us
OVERVIEW:
Hawai`i Rainwater Catchment is a partnership website serving those who use rainwater catchment in Hawai`i. Partners include Hawai`i Rainwater Catchment Systems (HRCS) Association, the County of Hawai`i, and the University of Hawai`i at Manoa (UH Manoa), College of Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources (CTAHR), Natural Resources & Environmental Management (NREM).
HRCS Association MISSION:
- The distribution of credible information for health, safety, technology and services
- To help improve existing rainwater catchment systems for the elderly, differently-abled and low income
- To promote the advancement of reliable and dependable rainwater catchment systems using simple
processes and materials
HRCS Association GOALS:
- Take an active role in the community to provide information on rainwater catchment systems pertaining to health and services by establishing information booths at community events and fairs and develop workshops and education activities.
- Provide review and updates to the "Guidelines on Rainwater Catchment Systems for Hawai`i as well as develop new translations for other Pacific Islander groups.
- Develop, publish and maintain a directory of information on suppliers, installers, maintainers, inspectors and testers through-out the Hawaiian Islands.
- Develop and maintain a web site that provides rainwater catchment system information regarding new technologies, safety, health, events and news.
- Develop grants to help the elderly, differently-abled and low income with improving their rainwater catchment systems.
- Develop and run a training program to certify rainwater catchment installers and inspectors.
